Hello all...it's been awhile!

I still have and love my RL-2088 I bought a few years ago. It was my first real torch...and the output, runtime, and build are all great. I love the fact that it is large, heavy, and overbuilt.

However, I've been having issues lately with flickering. More specifically, if I turn the torch on and don't move it, it won't flicker...but as soon as I make it horizontally level...it occasionally flickers...even completely off. I'm guessing that there is a loose connection somewhere inside, but after taking it apart and attempting to tighten everything, I still have the problem.

Does anyone have any advice or know anyone that can work on it? I don't want to buy another torch at this point. It's kind of a collectors item to me.

Thanks!

Try alcohol cleaning all contacts. That includes stripping down all the tail switch parts like the retaining ring and the contacts it makes. It might be loose it might have oils between metals contact points.
