Gifted a (group buy) Olight S-1 to a friend today, but after a few minutes he was unable to get the flashlight to turn off. The best we could do is keep it in moonlight mode, until we unscrewed its bottom to turn it off.

I offered to exchange it with my recently purchased one, but being gadget oriented, my friend wanted to keep it and check it out.

Any suggestions how to remedy what might be a defective switch?

Thanks.

Could possibly be a contact issue. Try cleaning off the threads and the o-rings and then lubricate them again. Sometimes that will help, however if the issue is related to the switch itself there isn't much that can be done other than contact olight or the dealer to get a replacement.

I had this problem with the S1 I had purchased from Illumn. I ended up returning it, and they stated it had a driver issue and sent me another. Also try what was posted above.
