Feature request: Sunrise/Dawn simulator - anyone seen this in a flashlight?

I'm not aware of this feature available in any flashlight: a mode where the light automatically increases from moonlight mode to some preset level of light over a period of time - to simulate the rise of the sun in the morning.

There are non-portable solutions available, but they're very "pricey" considering what they are. It seems to me this would be trivial to do in a flashlight engine..."it's just software - right?":) (coming from a sofware engineer)

This is the idea:

Ideally the light would have tailstand capability and have variable output.

Currently, I use a NC SRT7, which works wonderfully well, except for the fact that I have to do it manually.

I realize that having it start would require some type of alarm clock which might be problematic, but I wouldn't mind if I had to start it manually and it then did the rest automatically. Or just set it to start after X number of hours.

Maybe one of the custom light-engine guys might be able to do this?

The only related links I found with a search of CPF are:

Thoughts?

I mean... yeah "just software," but you need timing mechanisms and other things in the light. Then probably a more complicated input to properly set the current time and time you want it to go off. And for "colored" sunrises you're probably going to need multiple different leds.

How do you do that with the SRT7? Or do you just mean you have it on normally and change the brightness yourself?
