So I come from the knife collecting world and in that world designs are a manufacturers trademark.
Knockoffs, even if they are not exact replicas are super frowned upon.
People are very brand loyal.
I'm not getting that sense here. Seems like if if brand X is making a light we like and brand Y starts making the same light people feel ok owning either one. I see a lot of "this also is made under another name"...
Thoughts on that?
I was at Blade '08 in Atlanta and I felt some of that same brand loyalty coming off of the surefire booth but I come here and there seems to be very little of that.
Not sure how many "knife" guys are here but just to give you an idea some knife manufacturers hold auctions on who can have the privilege of buying their knives at that show.
