I have an SK98, but feel that something out there is far superior than this by now. Just curious, what do you feel is the most impressive, spot to flood light available today?

Good question, I'm interested in the 1AAA and 2AAA options. The Coast HP2, HP3 and HP3R are the most obvious options, but aren't available locally and I haven't ordered online, yet.

Brinyte B158. Here's a good youtube review from a member of the community. Its a great light straight from the box, but its also a very mod-friendly host so you can really boost it up if you wanted to.

As of 2016?...the new XP-L Coast HP17. Its a big darn light but everything can be done one handed with its push pull focus system and this time its a big Coast that takes 3 D's instead of 9 AA's...

Those aren't adjustable focus (spot to flood), though they are nice lights.

Nice video, definitely considering getting one. I would still like something around the size of an sk98, but sacrifices can be made for quality

Last time I checked any Spy was $500+....if you got the cash then you got the cash lol Id rather get 3-7 cheaper lights of varying sizes and outputs etc but do admit the Spy is pretty dang cool its just not $500+ cool

My favorite is still my coast hp550 because six AA batteries is easy to run on. But the coast hp314 is probably overall still the best in existence one of the best throwers on earth, especially since there is no spill, which is extremely annoying about spotlights is the spill kills your night vision. The flood is equally incredible. The run time is most superior with good alky Ds or rechargeable 748929199847636781887363 mah Ds. Since it takes four it does pretty good, plus the regulation helps.

I prefer to have two separate lights for throw & flood. I'm currently running OLight's M3XS-UT (1000m+) and a SRMINI INTIMIDATOR II (TIR Lens, nice flood). More flashlights the better I say!

I'd agree with the ideal of having more lights. But the color on above mentioned kills the allure of trying to avoid the tint of focusing lights, because the OLight's M3XS-UT is crazy green. In fact the green and infrared are part of the reason it throws well. But the spill too invalidates the throw once again.
