C.Crane Mini-Trek lens shield questions

Does the black lens shield interfere with turning the Mini-Trek on and off? How sturdy is the shield? Could it accidentally slide off in your pocket?

In other words, is it a useful accessory or just a waste of space?

It fits pretty tight, but it can slide off. I imagine as it gets older it will slide even more. I personally like it because I don't like the spill light shining off to the sides. It is sort of like a soft neoprene.

Thanks, Brock. I suppose I could always wrap some duct or electrical tape around the shield to reinforce it or even replace it altogether if it falls apart.
