I see that this light uses the same led that my ultratac k18 does. Am I correct in assuming that it can be used with 10440 batteries like the k18?

10440s are not to be used.

Agreed you should stick with Eneloops. Some have tried 10440 batteries with varying results. Sometimes you get a "poof" result and other times it works fine but loses regular AAA compatibility. Imo stick with Eneloops for these lights.

I appreciate the information. I have one of these lights on order. Guess I will be using enloops in it. It still puts out a lot of light for a little aaa battery.

As another point of reference, I have a few of these that I exclusively use 10440s in and have never lost modes or had one go "poof."
