cpfer alesnale wanted me to build a custom light using a madmax and 1aa. he wanted it to be basically a long cylindar.
i was origionally going to make it from scratch, but i wasn't able to, because i don't have the right size tools /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif i need a reamer /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rant.gif

anyway, i thought about it for some time, then came up with this idea. i asked him what he thought and he said to go for it.
i think it turned out quite nice. i must say it looks pretty darn attractive, the 2-tone 'grey', and knurling on both ends is kind of elegant i think.

the beam is actually quite nice!
i'd assume it's similar to that of the firefly. it seems as if the hotspot is wider, but less intense...

hope he likes it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Got the Rodent. Haven't glooed it together yet, but it is a dandy looking light, probably quite water resistant too.

The beam is like roth said quite good. The machining is flawless, and I commend the solution of using ontario aluminium parts.

So, can I come right out and say it?

Is that a cut down mini-[name of large, sue happy flashlight manufacturer censored due to extreme evilness] lite?

*edit* apparently I can't just come out and say it...

nice work! I might just try that myself... how did you get the cut down optic to stay in? is just going to be glued?

Any tips on cutting down optics?

yup, it's essentially a miniminimaglite body... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i made a delrin piece to go into the nub of the optic, and have a special live center that i use to hold the optic firmly in place.
i then turn the rpm up very high, and take light passes.
the optic is to be glued in place.
