If my light has not been turned on for several hours, the first time I press the button, it goes through its self test sequence before turning off, then the light can be used normally. Has anyones else experienced this? my 2nd does not do this.

Try swapping the pack with your second (they are from the same production). The ground path in the switch may be loose. If it is, pressing the button would cause it to make contact. Fixes include making sure the tail cap is tightly attached, the contacts inside are clean, or letting us replace it for you of course. I have seen this happen before but there was nothing wrong with the light except the cap was a little loose. Tightening it elimenated the effect.

thanks peter...i noticed this in my light and tightening down the battery pack fixed it. btw did you mean the battery pack instead of the tailcap? i tried tightening and unscrewing the tailcap on mine but it wouldn't budge. has loctite been applied in the manufacturing process?
