This light started lift as a DIY trail tech/WA MR11 10W canister light.
I'm a machinist & don't know much electronics so need some advise.
I can do simple soldering, but have managed to toast my ballast by connecting it in reverse polarity.
This is a dive light so needs are simple, on/off or on/off, hi/lo.
I have attached my lamp head for space limits.

My battery is a lithium Ion : http://www.dx.com/p/9800mah-12-6v-r...-battery-for-cctv-devices-100098#.VxaVvXrprui.
It's actual capacity is 3.3 Ah. (not 9.8)
For led I chose http://www.dx.com/p/20mm-10w-1000lm...dule-for-flashlight-white-235039#.V2ko2qLpqzk
but also found these:
http://www.dx.com/p/20mm-10w-980lm-...uminum-board-silver-white-217421#.V2krDKLpqzk

OR http://www.dx.com/p/20mm-cree-xm-l2...for-flashlight-black-grey-199058#.V2krrqLpqzk

I have no idea why one would be better than another (hens need advise).

For a reflector I chose: http://www.dx.com/p/35mm-35mm-alumi...r-cree-led-emitters-2-pack-14599#.V2kqY6Lpqzk
based on reading in the forum.

Now the driver???? This is where I'm lost.
Reading specs I picked a 3mode http://www.dx.com/p/t6-2500-3000ma-...or-diy-flashlight-4-5-18v-128269#.V2klSqLpqzk

3 modes, I can live with, although the strobe is not required. But I have not idea how to modify it, nor want to risk damaging it.
Question should this be potted/encapsulated? Before installation (concerned about damaging windings?)

Advise & directions are needed & greatly appreciated.

Bench model testing is done.
Found single mode 10w driver. Decided on Carclo optic rather than reflector & lens.

I purchased a 6" x 1.5" dia 6061-T6 aluminum rod, hope to start turning the heat sink this weekend.
