16650 cells from Keeppower, same runtime as two primaries.

Interesting. I have a Surefire P2X and E2D Defender using K2 Energy LFP123A rechargeables. This would be a nice alternative.

I've been successfully using two AW 17500 protected button tops with my Surefire P3X Fury.

Look for Flashlightguide's review on the G2X, it has a runtime graph that shows 16650 2000mAh virtually the brightness(5%less?) while having same runtime.

A relatively newer 2500mAh is also out on the market. I've been using the 2000mAh cells for over a year with no problems, very satisfied with them.

If you use rechargeable 123's you will have decreased runtime. A 16650 is what I run in mine and it has a slightly higher runtime than cr123a primaries. I use a keeppower 2500 mah 16650.

You could also get the 6PX bored to use an 18650 which will give you a great runtime.

    Awesome thanks
    .i,assume the 16650 is just a drop-in replacement

A 16650 is a battery similar to an 18650 but it's thin enough to fit inside Surefires that are made for CR123s!

If you run the naked sanyo 16650's, use a 4.35 charger(xtar vp2/sp1 to name 2 chargers that support 3.8v/4.35v cells), you can get more run time...............if it matters

Yes 16mm wide instead of 18mm, 65mm long the same as 18650(18mm, 65mm long=1865 and the 0 at the end for being round iirc)

I prefer charging only to 4.2, as that means they are not sitting in the light at 100% state of charge, prolonging lifespan.
Difference is around 80 mAh anyway (on 2000mAh cells charged to 4.2 versus 4.35V).

4.2v to 4.35v is around 10-12%, so 250-280mah (ish) on a 2500mah cell is not bad imo. Still nothing major and it is the cells spec, what ever works for the user. I know keeppower are limited to 4.2v due to the PCB, but i have not done any direct comparisons. Would be quite hard to notice i guess in real world terms. Most of my 4.35v cells are around 3.8v when they go back on charge........

Yes if sat waiting to be used, and can be an unknown time, better practice to store a little lower V for the cycle life of the cell/s. Yet still have a usable amount in the tank. For me, if its weeks i store full, if its months they get stored around 3.6-3.8v, but always prepared for ones in use................i could never forgive myself with all the lights and cells to be caught in the dark............just the thought of it

HKJ has reviews on both cells, I remember seeing around 80mAh difference for 4.2 vs 4.35 for the 2000mAh.

    The 2500 cell yielded
    1913mAh on a 4.2V charge,
    2146mAh on 4.3V charge and
    2031mAh on 4.35V charge.

This is on 1Amp discharge test.
