Hi guys, I just bought a new in box E1L-a outdoorsman … very excited. I had an 80/5 lumen E1B for years that went with me everywhere and held up to a lot. It was a great light, but I felt that it was time to update a bit. Specifically, low mode first and better runtime on high setting. I've been using the E1L and it is a big improvement - I like the aggressive knurling. It is a fantastic throwing light, and both modes seem brighter than the claimed 5/90. The tight TIR beam seems unimpressive on low setting up close… as it's so tight with not much spill. But outside that low mode throws much better than you would think and works for woods navigation because of it. I know everyone likes pics so I will post a few. I like dead-simple lanyards so I used 550 cord with the center pulled out, pulled it through the little hole in the pocket clip (that was a challenge) and used the diamond knot that's based on a carrick bend. I can hang it around my neck or loop it through itself on a belt loop and pocket the light.

Anyway… you could call me a Surefire fanboy… but my collection is very modest compared to many. I sold my E1B and 2 knives to buy this one. My question is, have you guys seen a Surefire that has a body that different in color than the tail cap or head? Especially evident in the first pic. There's nothing to make me suspect anything fake, but I'm wondering if someone lego-ed this thing. Just curious!

Surefires are known for mismatched anodizing, even on their top shelf models. I still have my OD greenish colored LX2, which is almost the same color throughout but I also managed to inspect another specimen, which had literally four shades of grey green anodizing.
