Inspired by a post about a DIY integrating sphere design, I did a quick test, using a vitamin jar cap as a diffuser. I had to add 1 piece of white envelope paper, and one piece of kleenex, under the cap, to "calibrate" it.

I used my new Integrating Cap to test two Lumintop lights.
On the left a ReyLight Tool w Nichia, ReyLight modes are mfg spec to be 1-16-80
On the right a Lumintop Tool w Nichia head, on a Maratac body, Tool modes are mfg spec to be 18-3-80

I calibrated to the ReyLight Low as 1 lumen, the result is it reads 2.5 lumens for the Lumentop Tool Low
I also measured the ReyLight High at 75.5 lumens, and the Tool head at 78.4 lumens. Im very happy with the ability to read relative differences between the two lights. Im also happy that after simply calibrating to the ReyLight Low, the readings on High are close to mfg spec. The differences between the two high modes can fall within variation of the state of charge of the eneloop batteries in the lights. (the test could be improved by using the same battery in both lights maybe).

you can see in the beamshot that the ReyLight obviously has a lower Low:

it just helps to be able to quantify the differences, here is the ReyLiht Low calibrated to read 1 lumen (mfg spec is 1 lumen):

that calibration reads 2.5 for the Tool head on Low (mfg spec is 3):

here are the beams on High side by side, and their readings (these are both N219b lights, you can see they use different batches of CCT):

ReyLight High (mfg spec is 80):

Tool head High (mfg spec is 80):

I tested the medium modes too, they came out higher than mfg spec, but similar to each other:

The L11c w Nichia 219b is rated 0.09-3-30-140
my homemade integrating cap did not read any differently than its resting state on the lowest mode,
here is the 2d mode (mfg spec is 3):

here is Medium (mfg says 30):

High mode was a suprise (mfg claims 140):

all lights tested with fresh Eneloop

Thanks. I like the beam on the Lumintop, but prefer the UI of Reylight.
I prefer low-med-high mode sequence.

I prefer low-med-high mode sequence.

yes, I understand. I have both, I EDC the MLH version more, for a couple of reasons.
1. with MLH I get useful light on the first mode I access (a low of 1 lumen is needed less frequently, for my applications)
2. with the MLH version, the 3 lumen low is more useful to me, than a 1 lumen low
otoh, since I have both the LMH ReyLight Tool and the MLH Lumintop Tool, I keep a ReyLight inside my camper, where the 1 lumen low is used more, than a Medium mode.

Here is the best deal I found so far, for a Tool w ReyLight Driver
Lumintop ReyLight Titanium Tool $48.30
use code LMT2016C

note the TiTool is less efficient on High than the Copper, see Lumintop Tool AAA Copper + Titanium measurements (Nichia 219B)

There are no more Copper ReyLight Tools available.

here are the lows of the ReyLight and Lumintop Tool

fwiw, the L11c modes are Low first, and there is an AAA twisty version called the L08, also Low first, both offer Nichia. These can be had in 3 mode or 4 mode

thanks to everyone for your contributions, and encouragement

Merry New Year!:)

true confessions:
My edc Maratac twisty body w Tool head had become unreliable, skipping modes.
This was after I had generously oiled the threads.
Problem solved by wiping out the the inside of the head, and end of the battery tube.

Moral of the story:
Wipey Skippy Twisty
