How about a pair of tweezers, that's what I use. The optic retaining ring is the easy one. I'm more interested in the tool you used to get the "first" ring out. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

actually I'm talking about the first ring than!!! I didn't even know there was another ring holding the lens down. I didn't want to use tweezers and risk scratching the lens or the ring.

The tool that it seems like the best one to use is a spanner wrench. It fits in the little holes and should be easier to use than tweezers, not to mention that you have less of a chance of scratching something.

The correct tool is a bezel or bezel nut wrench.

Harbor Freight sells a 4-prong jeweler's bezel-nut wrench that is adjustable for size and can be used for internal and external bezel nuts. It sells for about $25.00 USD.

Here's a link to their web site:

I tried to get the number, but the server was being finnicky.
I believe Harbor calls it a watch case wrench. Type that into the "search by word" box and it should come up. They are a lot cheaper now at $6.99 ea.

I think this is the item number for Harbor Freight. ITEM 45820-0VGA Couldn't find the four prong version though.

I cannot find the proper wrench at harborfreight.com. Perhaps Peter could respond to us: what REALLY is the best wrench to replace the lens in the Arc4, and where can one obtain it??

I have that watch wrench, 45820: it won't work on the arc4. The pins are too fat for the holes on the bezel.

Shouldn't be too difficult to make up something: take a short bit of sheetmetal of the right thickness and file it till it fits between the notches. You may want to make a cardboard template first.

I got the Harbor Freight # 45820 tool at the local store yesterday, and
it works just fine on the Arc4+ bezel. Just use the smallest of the 4 sets
of points included with the tool, and orient them correctly. Use only the
two at the end of the tool, keep the third one out of the way.

The suggestion of snap ring pliers, or needle-nose pliers also work, and
clamping them in a small vise at the correct spacing is the way to go.
