When I found this place, I thought, how could somebody be so into flashlights?

Now when I'm doing online searches every day looking at different flashlights, and lately, looking at the same flashlight again and again, wishing I could afford it (right now....Fenix RC40), I have to admit....

I'm a flashaholic. :) So I might as well admit it, and it can be easily verified by that fact that I have far more flashlights than I need but less than I want. And I might as well start putting them in my signature...

Well Jim, your perfectly normal and others who dont visit CPF at least 5 times a day(each time dependent as 1 visit for 24hrs is fine) are missing out................

Nice line up, the rc40 is a beast but dont think it will end there having something that is bright and big! It never ends................

Check vinhs forum out if you want more than just manufacturers outputs, programmable drivers, your choice of LED's and better heat sinking etc etc

An equally big gun, check the x65vn out in 5000k flavour for a neutral white 10,500lm and 620kcd ................amazing output. His rc40vnT and F hold their own(Throw/Flood) and perform considerably better than out of the box.

Enjoy the ride!
:)

My wife recently pointed out I had an addiction. Thus, I came here for help. As of yet no one has come up with a foolproof way of sneaking a delivery past my wife. My last and greatest success was getting the EA81 in the house. (Thanks to my kids for grabbing the package after school and hiding it.) I was caught in the act while purchasing a TM26GT so I had to cancel it. I'm forbidden from buying any more because it's a "want" and not a "need". A.C. is a want and not a need but for some reason it's not seen as the same thing. She clearly doesn't understand the addiction. It's good to be here among friends who understand. Yes, I am a flashaholic.

Thanks for the suggestion, ven, I had not thought of that. I may have to test that out. Thanks again!

ooOOoooo the old Fenix E-21, I love that flashlight. I gifted it to my father and he uses it everyday for the past few years.

This is great!

My trick is to buy many, sell a few and then any packages that get delivered are for my "eBay side business". Buy her a gift once in a while and be sure to explain it was paid for by your eBay selling. Once you get good at bargain hunting you might even make some money!

Dude,
Don't hide it from the Mrs.... seriously, not cool.
Swap places mentally and think about what you'd feel like if you found out she was having stuff sent to her work to keep you from knowing.

We all joke about being junkies and all that but we are all responsible about it. Just back off the purchases and figure out ways you can justify it.
My wife doesn't give me any grief simply because I use my own money.
We have ours, she has hers and I have mine. It works way better to remain honest about it in the long run.

Not trying to rain on your birthday cake or nothing, just sharing knowledge gained the hard way.

This is super true. The beauty of my technique is that it turns into a self funding hobby with the side cash.

This method has been working great for me for the longest time. ya just have to keep up on the tracking information and intercept the package, it's so much easier than getting busted.:twothumbs

It looks like this thread is being hijacked and so to the OP I apologize. And for the record, my birthday cake IS soggy.

Thank you for your concern and your advice is duly noted. However, I spend virtually no money on myself. All money is "our" money (I directly bring in about 80% of the household income.) I don't think a reasonable person would say I have too many lights:

2012 Dorcy 41-4287 (son appears to have lost at scout camp)
2013 TechLite Lumen Master 250 (The Mrs. carries in her purse)
2013 Streamlight ST-88040 ProTac HL (mounted as weapon light)
2013 Olight M20S-X (mounted as weapon light)
2013 FourSevens Maelstrom MM-X Gen 1 (kept on night stand)
2014 ThorFire VG-10 (current EDC)
2014 Fenix PD35
2015 Fenix PD22UE
2015 NiteCore EA45S
2016 ThorFire C8s
2016 NiteCore EA81

The Mrs. gets periodic massages at >$50 a pop which I don't find out about unless I see a copy of the check online, frequent pedicures for $??? (I don't even want to know.) Is it really too much to ask that I get something with lasting value once in a while?!? Rather than argue about adding a couple of flashlights a year it's less hassle to try and make the purchases discretely.

I agree. It's high time you treat yourself to a Hanko

Jim, Welcome Sir to the Twilight Zone.

bykfixer is most correct, I also use my own money and She does her Bingo and Casino crap. She is trained to text me at work to let me know how many packages have arrived. We like to go to Flea markets and its nothing for me to walk out with several vintage lights.

I knew I had a problem when contemplating this converted to a flashlight...

Or this...

Or will this tailstand...

This one I got a text about when it arrived.

When the postman started leaving these a couple times a week she did ask me to break down some of the boxes on occasion.

This guys wife used to help him find them.

Welcome aboard. It is a fun and mostly safe hobby. :)
I like your budding collection. If you hang around, it will only grow exponentially at a astonishing rate. Sometimes they grow quicker than the funds come in.

It certainly helps if you can get the boss on your side, odd light is no issue but if your going to start collecting then getting them on board is important. She may not have a light, a nice one for the handbag(or what ever) for an EDC will come in useful at some point. "what do i want a flashlight for................" can soon become " that flashlight sure came in handy today looking for an ear ring" as one example. A nice beam(not an intense blue hot spot that burns retinas for fun) of warmth, easy on tired eyes and shows colours nicely would probably be more appreciated.

My boss often enjoys having a go with some v54's(more so the larger ones) along with lots of CT varieties. Maybe partly down to being a tog helps with lighting etc, but she does have quite a bit more interest in flashlights today than say 5yrs ago. Not too often as it would be exaggerating, but i would say once a month or so, a conversation on hi cri and CT's breaks out:faint:

Honesty is always best policy, behind another's back is not advised and will only bring problems down the line(not saying you would!) . Place of work means no missed deliveries, just go easy and moderation without packages growing at the door. Key is to have a use in mind(application) before buying a light on a whim(again not saying you would, just a general comment), this way it saves surplus lights down the line with poor UI or poor tint/beams as examples.

Having a shared interest is not always easy, but involving others to a point does help to get across what useful tools they are. Maybe nightly walks for exercise/adventures, glove box light for finding that lost change under the seat.................to a potential unfortunate break down.

Although i never force anything on anyone, pretty much keep my stuff low key, interest soon develops(or so i have found over time) due to either curiosity or an actual need/use of a light. Basically enjoy your hobbies/interests and over time, others may share the same or just become part of the norm..............

You know all is well when you can have a brew and nothing at all is said, as if its the norm and to expect nothing different

Also helps having someone to have your back!

Kids think I am crazy for some reason this morning...............

Must be my Bday...........have a guess how old:crazy:

You know you have it bad when you make a wish , and its for a bigger coffee table to fit your lights on;)
Dont forget................enjoy it:D
