I'm confused, is this basically the same as a TK McLux except for the BB500 instead of BB400, and TWAK LIII/NX05 instead of the Q3L/McFlood?

Sounds like you've got it.
The Lux-III spanks the Q3L in both whiteness and brightness and the optic throws much better than the McFlood.
