Whilst the Fliklite LS is a nifty gadget with respect to it's switch and it's shiny good looks, it is a poor performer as far as Luxeon Star flashlights go. Mine has a low dome emitter and gives out a dismal 220 lux @ 1metre compared to my Arc LSL-P which gives out 396 lux at the same distance, both with fresh cells. The LS looks to be direct drive in series with a 5.7ohm resistor if my colourblind eyes don't decieve me (and they often do). I figure about 400mA current which should mean the LS should be about as bright as the Arc LSL-P with a reasonable LS. I obviously got shafted with that LS. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif

It looks to me that it's possible to remove the switch and the LS with the right tool(s) and it should be simple enough to replace the LS. Although there is some empty space available in the head it doesn't look like an easy space to put a regulator circuit into.

What mods, if any, have people tried with this flashlight?
