Can I run 3 X RCR123's in my Olight M3XS-UT? It should be 12.6 volts off the charger instead of 4 X SF123's which I think are 3.2 volts fresh. I don't want to fry the light, but I think it might be ok?

I wouldnt risk it. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure the manual says not to use 16340's. I have found best results with my M3XS to be using the 2x18650 extender and 2x3500mah 10amp protected GA cells. Does not really increase output the light is to well regulated the 2x18650 sources just increases run times which is cool

Interesting. Does not even mention 16340's/18350's. Just says up to 4 CR123's with the extender or 2x18650's with the extender. OP good luck getting a response from Olight. Best thing to do would be to email GoingGear they are the premier Olight dealer in the states. I personally think you may blow the emitter on 3/4 16340's but hey it is your light...

I had been using 2 Olight branded 3600 mAh 18650's, I did notice quite a difference in brightness when I switched to four SF 123A's. The Olight 18650's are new (less than five cycles). I was greatly impressed by the increase in output tint was also noticeably whiter too. So I am using primaries ATM and will do so for a while, since I have so many.

Run 2x18500 with the short stick. You can get them about 2,000MAh so not as much hit in runtimes as 3x16340 would be.

Olight states this light can use four cr123a,s which is 13.2 volts.

There for i cant see a problem in running three 16340/rcr123 which is 12.6 volts.

Or 3 x 18350, would be better.

It might be just me but m2x ut and the m3xs ut look like they have taken a beating from an ugly stick when fitted with the optional extenders.
