Instead of waiting 120 seconds, I can reset my Arc4+ instantly by unscrewing the battery compartment while the light is on. Screwing it back together causes the RFS / very dim flickering thing, and then the light is reset.

I'm guessing this won't hurt it?

it shouldn't...i've been doing that ever since i found out about it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif for those who prefer to go by the old fashioned way, you don't have to completely remove the battery compartment and tip out the battery. simply unscrew it so the battery tube lip breaks contact with the circuit board, wait for less than half a minute (if i counted right), and tighten it again and the light should boot up, indicating it has been reset.

LOCO is more like it.
Hmm. I've been throwing mine at a brick wall. This should actually be *better* for the light. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sorry... feeling spunky again. Good tip. Removing the power from the circuit shouldn't hurt a thing, regardless of if it is "on" or not. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Doesn't work on my First or my friend's Second.

I've got RFS turned off, and Semi-Tactical turned on.
After the above procedure nothing had changed.

Some functions survive a reset. To reset you must go thru the menu to the function desired, then press and hold until you get the acceptance flashes.

Ok,
Looks like it does work then.
Kinda hard to tell.....
From my reading of the instructions the only function that is actually reset by a 'reset' is the Locator Flash and Pure Tactical.
All of the others either ride through the reset or are restored with a simple 'off'.

I like the second tactical mode for some situations, but it was a pain to wait for the reset. Other than that, there's rarely a need to perform a reboot^H^H^H^H^H^H^reset.

One reason for reset is to exit from the "Pure Tatical" or momentary on
only mode. Since the light is only on when the button is actively pressed,
unscrewing it when on is difficult. However I notice that if you unscrew
it only slightly, then press the button once, and screw it back tight,
the reset sequence is executed immediately. This quicker reset makes the
tactical mode much more useful.
