Maglite 4D Xenon bulb dark spot in center?

New member here, looked all over here and could not find a direct answer. I have been trying to replace the bulb in my Maglite 4D-cell flashlights, and the Mag-Num Star II Xenon bulbs from Maglite all have a annoying dark spot in the center when zoomed in, and it only gets larger when you try and go to flood. I know I can upgrade to LED bulbs, but right now I just want to know if these bulbs are flawed. The Krypton bulbs that came with both flashlights were great, zoomed in to a nice hot spot. But these Xenons are ridiculous. Also, the white receptacle that the actual bulb plugs into does not even stay inside the silver collar that comes with it.

Nope, kryptons were better suited for the Mag that started out with krypton bulbs.

You should be able to find them on eBay or Amazon.

My 4c was a xenon based light that I adapted to a krypton holder and use a 3 cell krypton bulb. Much better beam that's a good bit brighter. Try the 3 cell krypton bulb out.
