I saw a review that advised not to use less than 3400mah 16850s in the SC600W L2 MKII but there is nothing on the Zebralight website about this. I have a bunch of AW 3100mah sitting around that never get used and I though they would work fine. I also have a couple of the unprotected 3500mah 16850s I bought for the SC600 MKIII (which I'm not sure are safe in the MK II). Do I need to buy yet more batteries?

These are fine. I have been stuffing a Nitecore branded protected 2600mah into my SC62w for almost three years and never had a single problem.

You can feed the MKII just about any decent 18650 battery. Doesn't matter what the capacity is.

It's the MKIII that needs unprotected batteries specified in the ZL website.

You can use unprotected batteries in your MKII as well. Both the MKII and the MKIII have over discharge protection built into the light.
