Are there any flashlights out there that have a main Luxeon LED (for medium distance), and several smaller 5mm LEDs (for short range) in one head? I know Streamlight makes models with a Xenon lamp, and many small 5mm emitters. But, I prefer not having to worry about changing lamps.

I'm not aware of any lights with a LS and 5mm LED's, but there are several with a LS LED that have muliple brightness settings. The SF L1 and ARC4 come to mind, as well as the upcoming SF U2.

If a headlamp will work for you, Youkon HL. 1 1W surrounded by 3 smaller LEDs. Runs on 3 AAs. Around 50$.
