Where can I get information on a website? In the past somebody posted info about ownership, phone numbers, etc. that wasn't listed on the site. Here's the site

There are a couple of ways to do that type of search. Probably the easiest way is to use an online source like one of these:

Another thing I do sometimes is to do a VIEW SOURCE (look at the HTML source)... In this case, you can see links to:

...https://secure10.imoutdoorshosting.com/cgi-bin...

www.imoutdoorshosting.com appears to be their ISP Server/Software business site--so you can contact them too--depending on what your needs are.

Hmm...that's a little scary that so much info can be found from those whois lookups. On one hand, it's good to be able to use when trying to contact a webserver, but on the other hand, this info could be dangerous if it gets in the wrong hands.

No one ever said the internet was secure or safe... expectations of otherwise are just plain naive...

Private URL registrations are available so no one can get this info through whois.

And many people just use made-up names and addresses--as long as the money is paid to the register, they really don't care.
