I just discovered that a frosted diffusing lens from a SF 1" F04 beam shaper is a perfect fit to a quad carclo optics. Before that, I used phaseburn's film to smooth out the beam of triples or quads, but the SF diffuser does a much better job.

In particular, when I remove the quad optics from my Emisar D4, the new front lens provides a great mule like beam, smoothing out the lobes from each individual LED. So I can carry the optics in my wallet when I need pure flood and put it back to the light when I need more throw.

The "mod" is 100% reversible, I can put the diffuser back to the F04 any time I need it.
