I'm in the market for a UV keychain light. I like the Photon Freedom UV Covert, but it's a bit more than I wanted to spend.

Can anyone recommend a decent one that only cost a few bucks?

More specifics of what you are looking for in terms of wavelength, power, and price range would be helpful.

What will be the primary purpose(s) of this light ?

9.75$ for the uv photon I at battery junction, that's just a few few bucks. I'm not sure that you'll get a better price for an actual uv light,
there's a ten pack of uv leds on Amazon for 12$ or so.

Jetbeam Jet-UV, its 20.00 and will show the red strip on a 100 dollar bill among other things.

The convoy S2 365nm uv light really seems like the best deal by far, but if you have to have a keychain sized light, the photon I seems hard to beat - It's squeeze only, no constant on, no levels, but that would be the most useful option anyways for such a small light. No possibility of leaving it on, no wasting time with dimmer levels when you're not getting much power in the first place.

I like the Photon Freedom UV Covert

is it a true 365Nm UV led, capable of revealing the red line on a US$100?

if you're ok with cheaper UV leds that cannot do that, the Tube UV might work for you (it is not a 365Nm led, their printed claim that it is a 365Nm LED is not accurate, it canNot show the redline on a US$100)

Jetbeam Jet-UV, its 20.00 and will show the red strip on a 100 dollar bill among other things.

I agree, and that is the smallest true 365Nm UV light I know of.

All the smaller, cheaper options, (SGN3, TubeUV and others) are not 365Nm, even when they say they are, they won't show the redline on a US$100

Detection of bodily fluids, including blood and semen.
non 365Nm UV can work for those things, not as well as 365Nm, and at lower power, but possibly cheap enough for you.

I love the Photon brand, so I think I'm sticking with that. I'm going with the Photon Freedom version vs the Photon-1 unit.

It's a couple bucks more, but I like the UI of the Freedom, in addition, I can get the covert model.

I've been considering a small UV light to have on me at all times. That Phonton just might be the one I get, as well.

I'm not sure I want to carry one as large as a Jetbeam Jet-UV.

I wanted something as small as possible that fits on my keyring. I've always loved the Photon product line, so I'm sure this one will be just fine.

I've always preferred the convert option as well. I like how it eliminates the side spill.

Not the best, but here's a couple pics with a US $100 bill. It's powered by 2x2016 cells. Recently, I've been getting my 2016 and 2032 cells from Dollar Tree @ 2 for $1.00.
