I recently found in a drawer of a surefire E2e. I have not seen any like it with just one patent number. Also I am in LE and would like to start using it as what I am issued is junk. Is there any way to make this light brighter, like a conversion or something? Thanks will it use 18650?

The battery tube is too narrow for an 18650, as it was designed for CR123's. You may have success with a 16650, though, depending on the upgrade.

What's your budget? How much light do you need? And do you need more than one mode?

Tana is the one to look at, there is the singLED option, good for around 300lm. The tripLED which is a triple/optics set up.

Depending on beam type and use would determine the best for you option.
Reg 18650, will require boring out which Tarik also can do for you(tana). I run 16650 in mine, 4.2/4.35v and a decent 2500mah. This way i am good to go as is.

There are other options, lumens factory to name one, also some T custom bulb options if you want to keep it on the bulbs.

Edit for pics, this is the singLED in middle

Another option is Malkoff Devices. They make several replacement heads, a couple of single output (350 and 700 lumens) and a multiple output (15/75/375 lumens) versions. Super high quality with "just screw it on" simplicity for around $100.
