I may be a little slow, and I found it difficult to figure out the user interface of the Xtar Vp4 Plus Dragon, even after looking at the nice reviews by stephenk and HKJ. The included instructions are a joke.

So I tried to gather the pertinent operating instructions to write down for myself. Could anyone confirm if I have this correct? Are there known firmware changes that might operate differently?

I will probably write myself an extended user manual, as I have a habit of forgetting details and like to be able to look them up in later years without having to hunt down articles on the internet.

Xtar VP4 Plus Dragon
OPERATION SUMMARY

In all modes:
-Long-press DISPLAY button turns off backlight.
-Click DISPLAY button to toggle display/slot data with 3-4 cells.
-Double click RECORD/TEST button to toggle beeper.
-LEDs blue = discharge; LEDs red = charge; LEDs green = full/complete/idle

From CHARGE Mode:
Change charge current = click CURRENT/REFRESH button
Go to REFRESH mode = long press CURRENT/REFRESH button
Go to TEST mode = long press RECORD/TEST button
Display test RECORDs = click RECORD/TEST button

From REFRESH Mode:
Change charge current = click CURRENT/REFRESH button
Go to CHARGE mode = long press CURRENT/REFRESH button
Go to TEST mode = long press RECORD/TEST button
Display test RECORDs = click RECORD/TEST button

From TEST Mode:
Change charge current = click CURRENT/REFRESH button
Go to CHARGE mode = long press RECORD/TEST button
Go to REFRESH mode = long press CURRENT/REFRESH button
Display test RECORDs = click RECORD/TEST button

From RECORD Mode (display test records):

Display lower number test (down) = click CURRENT/REFRESH button
Display higher number test (up) = click RECORD/TEST button
Exit RECORD mode to previous mode = double click DISPLAY button
Toggle display/slot data = click DISPLAY button

Erase single test entry = select record entry number; double click CURRENT/REFRESH button – entry number flashes – click DISPLAY button to erase. Double click CURRENT/REFRESH button again to exit erase mode, or exit to previous mode by double clicking DISPLAY.

Erase all test entries = double click CURRENT/REFRESH button, then double click CURRENT/REFRESH button again – ALL RECORD flashes, click DISPLAY to erase all. Double click CURRENT/REFRESH button again to exit erase mode, or exit to previous mode by double clicking DISPLAY.

I just got one of these and found this thread. I can't believe no buddy replied to it. I can't say if there is any inaccurate info but it checks out so far. Did you ever write an extended user manual?
Thanks for the info

You're the only peep to the post! I wrote the same info out on a Word doc so I could print it out, that's about it.

I just received mine, and couldn't figure out how to erase the test entry.
I will try out your instructions and hope for the best.
I hope my charger has the latest firmware!

Great stuff louie,I have had the dragon for a while but after six months of not using it I forgot most of what I learned about features.
This post helped a lot.
