Time for another totally subjective review of a little light!

(Full disclosure: Klarus wanted me to review
their mi1C so bad that I bought one online)

Note: every photo in this review is lit by either the Klarus mi1C or a Lumintop IYP365 or a Nitecore MTO6MD.

The light:

It came in a little black box:

And, inside that black box were: a little zipper baggie with two extra o-rings, a paper triangle telling you to remove the battery cover before using, said plastic battery cover, and an instruction sheet.

This is the copper one. I like brass and copper lights. I like that they wear. My EDC DQG Fairy is getting quite the patina. And in the background of the above shot, you can see I added a second tritium vial!

Anyway, back to the Klarus.

Build quality seems quite nice. Diamond pattern on the main tube. Hexagonal Head with the rubber-covered button on the side. Good strong springs on both ends. A nice rugged pocket clip, which is orientated tip-up, such that you could clip it to your hat if so desired. Meow!

And the surprise feature is a magnet in the base! I love a flashlight that has a magnet! It's actually quite decent, too. Holds the light well, especially considering that this copper light is not, well, light. I'm an elec-chicken by trade, and a light becomes approximately a billion times more attractive and useful to me if it has a magnet! So I can use it! At work! To light stuff up! See?

Orange peel reflector. Seems to mainly be a flood, with a brighter spot in the middle. Which is nice.

It comes with a 700mAh 16340 3.6V rechargeable battery. You could also use CR123A. Never seen one like this - it has a mini USB port towards the positive end. When you plug that in, a red LED lights up; indicating that it's charging (duh):

How cool.

UI. I like it. I'm picky about UI. Here's the lowdown:

One click: on (at whatever level you last used - it has memory). Click while on: cycle through four output modes in ascending order. Long hold while on: off.

Hold for 5s: lockout (blinks three times to confirm). Triple-click while locked: unlock (blinks thrice to confirm). Double-click: annoying strobe mode.

Output/runtime per package using included 16340:

Moonlight: 1lm / 6d
Low: 10lm / 32h
Medium: 45lm / 5h 37m
High: 600lm / 72m

The other data is here:

I'm pretty floored by those run times. And the turbo mode is insanely bright for such a tiny battery. The thing sports a CREE XP-L HI V3. Whatever that means. But I'm truly impressed by both the output and run times.

Maybe I'm just easy.

Nestled amongst some other EDC junk I often carry around:

A few lineups. From top to bottom, we have: Lumintop IYP365 brass (2x AAA penlight), Nitecore MTO6MD (2x AAA penlight), Fenix UCO2SS (10180), Klarus Mini One TI (10180), DQG Fairy (10180), and Klarus mi1C (16340).

Now, I'd post comparison shots of them on their various settings, but, being an idiot, I didn't disable auto-adjust on my camera. So it'd be stupid. Because I'm dumb.

And comparison shots between the mi1C's own settings is a waste of time for the same reason! You're welcome!

Final thoughts:

I really like this little guy. It's like barely two inches long, maybe 5/8" thick. Great run times and excellent output for such a tiny battery. Magnet. Copper. Good build quality. It has threads.

Umm, yeah. Another little light added to my collection. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.

My current EDC (except for the Sig, cuz you can't bring a firearm into the naval shipyard):

And my tritium collection. I put an orange vial in my boy's brass UltraTac K18mini. I added an orange one to my DQG Fairy. I have two spare vials for something. And, of course, the Sig's night sights. Ah, toys.

Thanks for reading! Don't forget to put the thing in the place, and, um, yeah. Meow!
