Bought a Nitecore E4A. It has the worst interface of any torch I have ever owned. Once it is on you can only go to strobe or Turbo. You can't change the level other than that. If you want to change level you have to turn it off then hold the button down while it cycles through the levels till you get to the one you want. And it cycles from the level you turned it off at so if you want to go to a lower level you have to turn it off then cycle through the high levels first.
I'ts got an impresive 4,400 lumen from a small size but really not sure it's worth the hassle.

Was that the EA4? The single button 4xAA light where the button used to 'melt' over time?

It is a bit weird that interface. To change mode from ON is a click, press-and-hold action (turn off then on again). Why they didn't allow mode changing with a press and hold while ON, doesn't make much sense.

    Happy New Year Chaps!

Let's hope we get a chance to meet up this year.

Hope everybody is hale and hearty and still enthused by all things bright and therefore beautiful.

Deffo bringing my lightsabres to the next meet up. Maybe some torches too!

    Happy 2021.

Ha ha, I have a lightsaber supposedly on the way (it was due Dec 4th, so is a bit late), and I mean duelling lightsaber (not a thrower).

Hello Katherine, welcome to the U.K. chat.
Where did you two order yours from? I've been getting adds on Facebook for a British company that makes them. Saberzone.

Thanks, not quite the same thing but I am waiting for my LEP to arrive
That saberzone looks really cool! I never knew such a thing existed before, the "Elegance" model looks like something I`d probably go for (if I won the lotto! LOL)

Seems Saberzone are just re-selling Chinese ones for inflated prices.

You should like the LEP. They are impressive but don't really have much practical use.

Welcome to UK chat Katherine indeed! You'll love the LEP.

Jay, We've got several sabres, my son and I. Mostly from Ebay (Chinese and a single UK dealer (For Rey Skywalker's version)) but we did order direct from Saberforge - which was by far the most expensive, but also possibly the best in terms of design and manufacture.

But all of them, cheap or expensive (£60 - £360!!) are fun and seem very much up to the duelling that a Father and his two kids might get up to. Much more resilient than any of the genuine branded Star Wars toys IMHO.

I recommend the Youtube videos of Hollywood stuntwoman (and world class baton twirler) Michelle Christa Smith for tips on how to look cool with a sabre without knocking your teeth out.

Also if you take the blades out, they make quite fun colour changing torches (single level though).

Sub - can you do a review of yours when it arrives???

    Happy New Year!

Beginning to doubt it is going to arrive and tomorrow I'll be raising a dispute

Unfortunately not a review candidate, and just a £60 job, but should still be fun.

Thanks, I bought the Sky Lumens one from Vinh

BTW, just a quick heads up for anyone that hasn`t noticed it yet, but eBay are charging VAT now on everything bought from China, even on something 99p! I`m not sure if this applies to other websites yet though, but eBay is certainly infected.

I think the Osram LEDs are pretty impressive for smaller lights. I like the CSLPM1.TG (W2) A balance of throw and output.

Well... It's seriously impressive for the size. The throw is just fantastic as is the output for the 10180 battery. On the original battery it only maintains turbo for about 15 seconds. Other brand 10180 cells only hold it for 5 or 6 seconds so I think the original cell is a high drain type. My one arrived without the button backlight working and I've heard of other cases where it either doesn't work or is VERY dim so that seems to be a weak point. Even if it did work I'd have turned it off anyway so I'm not bothered. Other than the backlight, the quality seems to be quite good.
If you keep it down to 110-150 lumen output the battery lasts long enough to be useable but let's be honest, you aren't going to be going caving with it.

We all have a bunch of other lights so here is the actual bit that matters... it just 'feels' fantastic. The whole tactile feel of the thing is so good. Something about having a micro size thrower you can roll around between your thumb and two fingers is just really nice and occasionally you double click to turbo and giggle at the sheer output and throw. You all know I'm a bit of a micro light collector and this by far is my fave to actually hold and play with. It's like you had a huge thrower and put it into a shrinking machine.
If you want to make it a bit more useable you can get an extended body so it will fit a 10440 cell though I found that many of my aaa light bodies fitted fine. The Thrunite Ti3 body is the best match but the proper body is only 6 dollars.

I got mine on pre-order from Banggood for £18. Now you don't seem to be able to get it for less than £30 or so which is a bit steep. I probably wouldn't have paid that.

On the other hand... I may pay that now if I lost this one, now I know how much I like it.

Oh, if you do get a 10440 body and cell for it, you can still use the charging cap that comes with the light on the end of the longer body.

If you need a good April fool for tomorrow....

I just took my son's used covid test, popped the top off and moved the indicator strip so it looks like he has tested positive.

You know, it's getting expensive to source cassettes for my Walkman collection. Luckily I just picked up a whole bunch of new (though old) Maxell chrome C100's so I'll be good for a while now.
