Going on a fly in fishing trip in Canada soon. There will be 3 boats on a 25 mile long lake with numerous bays and islands.
Any recommendations on radios?
There is no cell service.
I was looking at these but any input is appreciated.

Waterproof would be better, these are "splash resistant"

Thanks

Don't plan on getting anywhere near 25-mile range on any FRS/GMRS radio in that price range. On a flat, unobstructed area, expect a mile, maybe two.
I wasn't expecting the 20+ miles. I called a local Motorola store and he said maybe 5 or 6 miles on open water. We mainly want them in case something happens like the boat motor not starting. At some point someone would come looking and hopefully get in range where we can talk.

Well, if it were me I'd go with Baofeng BF-F8HPs with extra-long antennae, a extra batteries and solar chargers, but I'm not sure how legal they are in Canada (they'd have some non-legal uses here in the States). They should get you good distance (5 miles +) & signal quality, though there are no affirmations about water-proof-ness in the literature, and I've not tested them for that -- I think I'd still go for them, just be careful and use good cases.

FRS would be good for comms within the group but I don't think it will do you much good for getting help in an emergency. I could be wrong.
