I'm working on a project, whose goal is to focus light from a CREE XLamp XHP70 LED to a small disc (a radius of 10mm seems awesome, up to 15mm is okay-ish), 80mm away from the base of the diode. The current design is a TIR lens, shaped something like this. What percent of the total light flux should be a realistic goal, when focusing the light? The largest radius of the lens must not be greater than 15.8mm. Uniformity, or lack of a diode pattern is completely irrelevant, I just need the highest possible total energy output on the mentioned disc.

Do you suggest I use a different TIR design? What are your suggested optimization methods? I am working in ZEMAX OpticStudio and I create models for testing using Python in Maya.

Thanks a lot!
