So I have an old ultra fire c1 which has been a go to bedside light for general purpose whatever for many years. A while ago I picked up a dereelight drop in for it with a xre r binned led. I want to say it was rated for something unrealistic like 900 lumens bit I don't remember. I do know it's very bright for the vintage and gets the heavy bezel hot in a decent time frame. This pulls 0.98A of two rcr123 AW li-ion cells.

Testing vs an eBay budget xml drop in, also single mode. Also an unrealistic 1000lm rating. This one is noticeably lighter, brighter and floodier. Pulls 0.85A off the same batteries. Has two solder joints on the board and the spring compared to the dereelight single joint.

I'll try to get some beam shots but my only camera is an iPhone which I don't believe has manual settings.

Which module would YOU preferred? I think I will run the no-name xml for a while and see if it holds up... but is the dereelight generally a known quality or not?

Reg iphone pics, if you press and hold the screen for a few seconds when on the camera mode, you get AE/AF lock.
