This is really nice, like an aqua blue color. Reminds me of the Grotta Azzurra (Blue Grotto) in Capri, Italy. I took this photo there quite a few years ago. Now I've gotta have one of these...

This is what was used. Found in a locked filing cabinet, in a locked storage room with a sign on the door that said "beware of tiger".

Could we have like 60 seconds priority or so for us poor individuals who got our orders for the previous batch cancelled?

No. I'm just having sadistic fun. They won't go up for sale for 3 weeks.

...but the website really is borked. The accessories ordering page doesn't work right at all, even on IE.

The last photo is of 18 out of 19 of the Double Beryl reflectors. They turned out exceptionally nice and even. I'll have some beam shots this week and some "glow time" tests as well.

I'm not sure what to think of all of these diffuse reflectors. They are appealing but hogo has already stated that they are doing a few experimental runs to come up with a permanent solution and product for regular stock.

Do we try to buy all the variations (already missed the 1st run), or do we wait for the final product...

Whatever we finally decide to keep, will be done in small batches, so I don't know.

We certainly have our system down with this run of Double Beryl reflectors. I will get some beam shots this week. I just got one put in my personal "test" light today... but I am quite impressed with the beam shape and profile.

I'll keep posting info as I get it. I know this run is going to go on sale on September 24 at noon Tucson time.

Edit: These are also going to be $72. There is over double the time in these from the semi-diffuse green.

LOL, didn't even look at the calendar. Ok, so you were nice enough to give us a long weekend break

That could be bad news...I might not be available on the 24th. One day at a time, we'll see

    The Double Beryl characteristics:

Things that make the Double Beryl 90% diffuse reflector more than just a cool glow in the dark reflector.

The beryl color is emitting at the same location at the notch in the LED spectral emissions, thus raising the LED color rendering ability by 1/2 a point. We confirmed this on the integrating sphere. What does this mean? The CRI is going up .5. If you are a hiCRI whore, and I know I am, Iíll take that half a point. We found green lowered the CRI by almost half a point. There was no perceptible change in color temp (roughly 125 degrees kelvin).

Green Cones peak out a roughly 500-535 nanometers peak sensitivity.
The rods peak out at roughly 480-500 nanometers.
The peak on the beryl is at 490 nanometers.

Although people believe that green is more visible, it is only more visible when using the cones (color). While the beryl is technically dimmer, it has the same visibility as the green with dark adapted eyes. So, the green is emitting more photons, but in an area where the eyes are less sensitive to them, while the beryl is emitting less photons, it is in an area where the rods are more sensitive to them.

Any idea what frequency it absorbs to get the energy to be able to emit this spectrum filling goodness?

I think the only thing I understood was +0.5 CRI I'll take it too

Not a clue. I had Henry explain it me to me while I typed and I, like INFRNL, pretty much only understood .5 higher CRI. He did explain it to me and showed me the graph on the sphere... but I'm old. My puppy would understand it better.

Fair enough. To be fair, I set a reminder on my calendar for that morning to check if my piggy bank has refilled enough to try my luck & clicking speed based on just that part...

OK. Here is a graph just for explaining what is going on. If you look at the 590 section on the graph, most emitters have a valley here. The beryl color is popping this up slightly, which then effects overall CRI of the light output. Henry was showing me the standard reflector vs. the Double Beryl, and you could see the valley was slightly higher, and along with that, the CRI. When the light is on, the phosphors are both absorbing and releasing photons, and the ones released are around the 490 nanometer section.

I think the elf just likes the color.

Some white (Navajo White) door shots.

    High Noon Standard Reflector:

    High Noon Double Beryl reflector:

From years ago, complete diffuse reflector:

I'll see if I can get some beam shots tonight outside.

These were from about 6 feet away.

It's hard to tell, but there is a very large hot spot in the Double Beryl.

Double Beryl on ceiling. Here you can see the hot spot.
