Maratac AAA rev 3 stuck on medium mode

Hello,

My Maratac AAA rev 3 that I love is now stuck in medium mode.
Previously it was stuck in low mode, but after exchanging email with countycomm, I cleaned the contacts with alcohol.
As a result, it is now stuck in medium mode.
Now even after multiple cleaning, there is no progress anymore.
Countycomm proposed to repair/exchange for $26, but I am not living in the USA anymore, so the return won't be possible.

Can someone is knowledgeable enough to give me some tricks to unstuck it ?
The flashlight is in perfect condition. I used it only every six months for a few minutes. It didn't drop on the floor or anything, so I don't know why it suddenly stopped working.

Simple questions first...What chemistry batteries have you used in it.

Can you try a different battery?

I am using standard Eneloop NiMH. I tried to use different batteries, but I have the same results.
