I'd like to use a 14mm driver in a flashlight designed for 17mm drivers. Is there an adapter available for purchase? If not, what's the simplest way to make an adapter? Maybe a specific gauge of copper pipe sawn thin? A drilled out washer?

short of having access to a lathe, yes. buy some brass or aluminum sheet, and drill/ dremel.

What is is about the 14mm that isn't found in the 17mm?

If you're aware of a 17mm boost driver that can source up to 700mA for an LED with a 5V Vf running off a single 18650, then I'm all ears. I can't find it.

Try looking on Ebay for "14mm sump washer".
I find them useful for a lot of things flashlighty.

Thanks! This looks like just what I need... unless somebody knows of a 17mm boost driver that can source up to 700mA for an LED with a 5V Vf running off a single 18650. Hint hint.

If you are looking for 1-off, just sand it down to 17mm diameter. If you need a bunch of them, I have a lathe...

The driver I've found is 14mm, can't really sand that down to 17mm. Unless you have a different, larger boost to recommend?

Just a bit of dremel work to open it out to 14mm.

Wouldn't I want to retain that 1mm lip so the driver stays in place? There are 17mm OD x 14mm ID sump washers on eBay, but wouldn't a 14mm driver fall through a 14mm hole?
