I just picked up a TerraLUX MiniStar2 and dropped it into a Mini Mag. I was comparing it to the BB400 and noticed that the BB400 head got warm during operation, but the TerraLUX MiniStar2 did not.

I ran the lights for 5 minutes and shut them off. I measured 155 F on the MiniStar2 and 122 F on the BB400.

How hot can an LED light be run without doing damage to the LED?

Tom

By the way, I posted comments on the TerraLUX light engines in the reviews section.

I think 155°F (68.3°C) is pushing it, but it's probably not at dangerous levels. Most LEDs and other electronic components can run fine up to 185°F (85°C).

I didn't know these were available yet!

Tell us more.

What about the rest of the TerraLux product line? Available?
