Marriage is a #2 Special
by Ratpackslim

i don't know if the Earl of Sandwich knew what he was doing,
when he combined bread with other edibles
but in my estimation, the pairing is incredible.
starting to wonder, then
if life ain't just a series of happy accidents
waiting to be taken advantage of.
i wonder if all the misdirected luv on this planet is planned
or if man has abandoned the concept of forever.
because putting ingredients together
ain't nearly as easy as it may seem.
and having faith in the idea of a lifemate
might date me a bit.
but call me oldschool then
class is in session
today's lesson is about making connections
and learning to surrender to the special inevitable
of forever and a day.
a day of your choosing shared with your chosen
wrapped in rings representing a token of your considerable esteem.
the realization of a dream
the picking up of steam in the rocky ride of this new team.
you're pronounced the perfect pair
the organist plays a fanfare
or maybe the singer or the DJ takes it there
and here comes the turn of the tide
here comes the beginning of the ride
point being, Elvis left the building, but here comes the groom and bride
here comes the bright hope
'cause luv is a tightrope and two folks who are stoked enough
to say "i will" or its derivatives may still
live happily ever after.
after the reception, they still pledge to be receptive
to keep their antennas directed towards their partner's messages
for better or for worse.
in times of duress
in times of delight
in times of insanity
in times of insight
and just in time for potentially endless
passion filled nights
you heard me right.
her favorite sentence: "This is my husband."
his: "This is my wife."
yeah, that sounds
nice.
and so family expands as former strangers join hands
strike up the wedding band
whoever feels like these two shouldn't build is banned from the building.
their luv is like a big fat hero sandwich
lots of layers
lots of flavor
twice as filling
my new heroes, the newly betrothed
willing to walk a mile in eachother's shoes
so they put on special clothes
gather family and friends so everyone knows
it's the best story out there
the most perfect prose
the one that ends with them luving eachother
'til they're wrinkled and old
and even a little longer 'cause that's how this story goes.
they've followed their hearts like bloodhounds follow their noses.
growing from this barren Earth
two beautiful roses.
the happy accidents.
the product of proposing.
and in closing
well is wished unselfishly
as man and woman meant to be
start heading toward their dual destiny.
and this dish cooked up by two chefs
this marriage of ingredients
well
that is luv's specialty.

Strange theme/tone. Because I have a million reasons to move back to Alaska. And zero reasons to stay in Florida. It's like I hung around to meet her.
