AA to D adapter handle 2 amps?

Looking to power an XM-l2 Malkoff Maglite drop in with eneloops and some of those 3 AA to D adapters you can buy on ebay and amazon. The contacts on the adapters look kind of thin. Think they are up to the 2.1 amp load?

I spouse if you want to be safe you can buy some (1mm-1.5mm) copper sheets and cut out the contacts shape using the original metal ones as a template and replace them. But I don't think there's anything to be worried about using the adapters as is.
