Electric scooters have recently sparked an interest in me. What are your experiences with them? What do you think of them? What kind(s) do you have? What kind(s) do you want to get? Do you know any good electric scooter sites?

Thanks. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

DO NOT GET ANYTHING BUT A RAD2GO 600+ watt its that or gas. RAD2GO makes the Harley of scooters - the only electric that can trump the gas scooters in a sand and dirt ofroad race - i adore mine.

what i just got was a cheapie - i plan to horsewhip it then use it for parts.

I don't own one, but am interested, too. Would love to pick up a Pukka, but I live 15 mi. from anywhere, and most EV scoots are limited to about 15-25 mi. range (at slower than their usual 13-19 mph top speeds, where range is even less) with long charge/turnaround times. Waiting for LiIon's!!

For more urban folks, an EV scooter would be great.

Lots of neat new designs in the last year or two. Beware of the cheap Chinese imports, from what I've heard. Motors, controllers, battery packs, etc. not up to snuff.

You'll be happier with gas (sure, you'll buy the electric, but you'll evetually want something quicker and that's a gas motor). Even a little 50cc will out perform a 600 watt electric scooter (550 watts is one horsepower and a typical 50cc will do 3-5 horsepower, so 1650-2750 watts). Plus the energy density of gas is much higher than a battery-just look at Coleman lanterns, their lumen output, measured in hours, is just incredible compared to any battery powered light). If the new gas ones are too expensive (and I think a lot are overpriced), a used 50cc would be a better long term bet than a new electric (IMHO).
