How long will it be until Surefire (or someone else) puts out a tactical LED light that throws 100-200 lumens?

It depends on what you mean by tactical. Wayne at Elektrolumens is selling a 216 lumen torch...the TriStar 4D. If that's too large a light to consider tactical, there are some production (imported) 5W LS flashlights available on e-bay and custom built models on CPF's B/S/T forums that should make 120 lumens (or more). Most of those are smaller than the 4D TriStar, making them easier to conceal and manuever with...perhaps a better fit for tactical purposes.

the SNII makes 216 lm. this is a lab tested result, and it was done with a V-bin emitter!
the MR-X is driven harder and uses an X-bin ... should be even brighter.
then there is the X3T BB750 combo that should be about 120-150lm
CPF rocks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Thanks guys. I was mostly referring to a more mainstream light (SF/SL) as opposed to a modified model. The L5 and L6 would be perfect if they put out more light. Is there any word on whether SF will be putting out lights with more power anytime soon?

Out of curiosity, why small flashlight would be more tactical? All in all, concealed flashlight isn't usable for its primary purpose which is lighting the area, or to make it more tactical - blinding the bad guy ok /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif For blinding 216 lumen is better than 120, that's simple anbd obvious. As for the size, even if this sounds like Boris the Bullet dodger from the Snatch, heavy(and big) in this case is an advantage after all if you run out of bullets U can use it as a club, or throw it at him.
