Hey,
I have a bunch of Surefire flashlights that use 2 123a batteries. I switched to 17650 cells because they don't rattle like the 2 123a's do.
17650 cells are hard to find. If I switched to 16650's, would they rattle like the 123a's?
Thanks in advance.

My 17650s are a drop bigger than my 16650s. They have less rattle due to being one longer battery than 2 cr123s. However my 17650s are more snug and have no rattle at all.

If you find that the16650s do rattle, just put another layer of heatshrink on them.
It's good to keep some anyway to be able to repair the original sleeves. Serarch for 18650 heatshrink, it will shrink down enough for 16mm cells.

Interestingly, I read about it for the first time. Those 17650s that I can get are too thick and do not enter my LX2 and E2D. My 16650 from Eagletac enter LX2 only if you remove the silver sticker, this SF has a very dense hole. In any case, the 16650 now have more capacity than the 17650. If there is a rattle on the 16650, you can make 1-2-3 thin layers of ordinary scotch or insulating tape to match the diameters, it is only a couple of cents and few minuts. What Surefire do you use?:)

I use 16650s in my G2 and 6P. If I hold my 6P by the head and shake it I will get a very slight rattle feeling, but no noise. If I shake it by the tail, nothing. If it ever gets to be a problem, I will just cut a strip of 24lb printer paper just large enough to shim the cell.
