So here's the story. I have a Mr. Bulk Chameleon and it has been acting up. I expect it's the driver.
What it does, after sitting with the battery in it when you turn it on it will immediately turn off. If you disconnect the power/battery from the light for 30 seconds to a minute, the light will function normal for an hour or two. Then it reverts back to not functioning. Click on then usually at 3rd or 4th level it will shut down.

So the question is, with the side switch which is built into the driver. Can the driver be updated? If so what are the options?
I really like the light and it's UI.
Is a replacement Driver available?
I thought I had found one but I don't think it will work.(2nd picture)

Could this be a result of poor grounding that I've read about? I have not had any flickering.

Yes I have. Most yield the same result. I am trying an IMR cell that seems to make the issue much less.
Could it be the upgraded led is demanding to much from AW cell and other 123cell?
I have it set on table 4 1000 ma max.
And responded the same way on table 3 which is only 750 ma

the early chameleons had a spring ring to hold the driver in, and create a ground.... I've replaced them before with a single wire type keyring, bent to fit....
