    Default Hurry up new Quarks!

Anyone else getting impatient on the new quarks besides me? I have 6 quark 123-2 and love them, i have a 123-2 xpg 3000k hi cri i have carried 5 days a week for 6 years and it wont die. I am ready to buy a new one from the new owner as soon as i can.
But until then i am going to mod a 123-2 xm-l2 with a xpg2 reflector and a 4000k sst20 led. Hope it works good.
any idea when the new qurks are supposed to be here? Still mid march or so?
    thanks

I wouldn't say I'm getting impatient, but I am L@@King forward to another new offering from Jason. It helps that there are other new lights to enjoy while waiting.

Given a recent post, mid March might not be the landing period to set your hopes on.

+1 They've already had a few "whoopsie daisies" with the Preons.

    Hey friends,

We are putting the finishing touches on our upcoming Quark flashlight Kickstarter campaign. This is a preview link and I'd love your feedback. Just a note, the video is a draft and contains some watermarks on the images and music, please ignore Feel free to share with immediate family members etc. but please don't distribute.

I'm looking for high level feedback at this time, not editorial corrections. We'll do a final copy edit before launch.

I know everyone is busy so no need to answer everything...just anything that stands out to you personally. Some thoughts to get you started:

    1. For both the video and the campaign itself: overall, do they land or do they miss?
    2. What is your main takeaway about the purpose of the campaign?
    3. Is anything particularly strong or weak?
    4. Did we miss an obvious opportunity or is there too much of something?
    5. Do the rewards and tiers make sense?
    6. Are the sections presented in logical order?
    7. Anything else?

We are hoping to launch ASAP so please get back to me as soon as possible if you want your feedback to have an impact

Cheers and thanks for your time!
    Jason

The only thing that really jumped out at me was the listed brightness settings go from 1 lumen to 100 lumens on the 16650 and from 1.5 lumens to 80 lumens on the 2xAA light.
To me, thatís like not really having a medium setting. For example, as a work or task light 1 lumen isnít enough for working in my opinion. But 100 lumens is too much for up close work in my experience. Thatís like a Preon P1 MKIII that only runs in low and burst.
I donít expect that the selected brightness settings will suddenly change, but I put it here anyways because that was my initial reaction, and thatís what you asked for.

Hm, just remembered. Why not using twist head system like old ones? Having on the fly 5-6modes at once and even better spaced....?

Two Words . . . SF. That feature is no longer allowed due to copywrite laws.

Doesnít Malkoff use the head twist for hi/low on hound dog, wildcat and MD2? Is that different from what you guys are discussing?

There are also several other flashlight companies in violation of the copywrite, but they were not served due to being based outside the United States.
I don't have an answer to why Malkoff Devices is offering those. Perhaps You can write them. I am guessing they are selling off stock they have ???

No single 14500 / AA option?

The campaign says there is a single AA Quark coming in the future, ironhorse.

We have been using the head twist for High/Low for 11+ years. I was selling Maglite Mods on Ebay with this feature back before we had a webpage or even came out with our own line of flashlights. The High/Low feature has not been retired.

    Thanks, Gene

Okay- I downloaded the user manuals and one thing that really grabbed my attention was that the manual says that the dimming is accomplished with constant current. If those drivers are truly using constant current and not pulse width modulation, that is a big big deal and a very real selling point for many experienced flashlight users. I donít recall seeing that mentioned in the campaign at all. For those who are not really experienced with flashlights, it is worth a brief description to educate them as to what that means and why it is superior. I would definitely make it a point to mention and elaborate on as I think there are many out there that will pass on a light with pulse width modulation. No matter how good the PWM and no matter how ďundetectableĒ it may be, our eyes are not made to see that way, and I feel ultimately constant current is superior in a number of ways.

    Hello Jason --

I've been a Flashaholic for more than 60 years now !
And a big 47's fan for a Decade.

This looks and sounds Great !

As a 2xAA enthusiast, I have one concern:

You list Maximum voltage as 3.0

    Am I permitted to run Energizer L91 Lithiums ? ? ?

Those are my backup supply when things get difficult !
