Gosh, Astro, you don't seem to like HDS, how many do you own?

When HDS speaks of perfection, they are referring to function, not aesthetics. (Though many of us think the devices are quite handsome.) If you decide to invest in one, you will have a family heirloom.

There are still some bare SS units available for anyone concerned about anodizing. No coating to worry about there...

Not really. At the moment for most of us there are "bad times" - at least not that good anymore like we had at the start of the year. Corona made everything bad...
I was really surprised that Hogo also did a SS run this year. My guess would have been 2021 or 2022.
The price is quite good no question, but if you have less money each month (or in worst case no money due to a lost job) than a SS Rotary is really unimportant.

But I like the idea of a SS Rotary. I know HDS lights are almost indestructible, and I am sure the SS rotary will be indestructible. That will be the ultimate outdoor, survival, apocalypse flashlight.
Still looking for Surefire G2 in Orange.
If you have one you don't like please PM me.

I wants it. That was the reason.
Well, that and sneaking it in on the tail of the BeCu run greatly reduced the cost. If I tried to run it in a year, it would have increased the price more than $100 per unit... and I wanted to try to keep the price down as much as possible.

    @Hogo
As I said, the price is quite good, like I wrote. It is always great to get good prices. And I am sure all SS Rotaries will find a good home. If there are some left when the pre sale is finished the remaining SS Rotaries will sell fast when the pictures of the proud SS owners will be posted... btw how many SS rotaries are left?

The only question I now ask myself, what will than the next special metal run....??? The really cool stuff is than done. The only I could imagine would be a pure copper light, but copper is very soft.

    Um hmmm...

So here's a problem now. HDS may not be flaw-free when it comes to bling addicted non-users, but no other light can be perfect either, because they don't have the most perfect UI, which the HDS Rotary has a monopoly on. Too bad, but it's true.

Copper is soft, but the red metal is one of the most good looking there is. When we got the Bronze I'd hoped for red bronze, like many water control valves are made of, and even though it was said that there'd never be bronze again, I'd be in for certain if a red bronze ever happened. Looks much more like copper, but still extremely tough too.

For me it depends on how the BeCu comes out. If it looks nice red than a copper or some red bronze is not needed.

My hope is the BeCu is just a little "red". I own a LF2XT BeCu from Steve Cu and this BeCu alloy is "yellow", could be brass or bronze without patina.

But a pure copper HDS is kind of tempting. Copper has also a great patina, and there are lots of copper lights. Maybe tere are some copper alloys that are not that soft. The BOSS Copper is at least what I know a great light and not only usable as shelf queen.

Just saw Hogo’s YouTube video and noticed the body threads seem different from the ones I have on my light. The other flashlight threads I found don’t have anodizing and look very smooth compared to mine. Is mine normal because I kind of think mine could be smoother if you asked me

As example I found this photo from another page which shows the threads. This seemed more normal to me

The difference in threads is one is cut after anodizing and one is masked during anodizing.
All current ones are masked during anodizing. Other than looks, it makes no difference... and they are threads... inside the light.

This gives the impression of white dust sprinkled on the light. I don’t mind the effect which is only visible upon examination, but just wanted to make sure this won’t cause any issues going forward, as I know the type 3 hard anodization is not only nice looking but also serves to toughen the light.

Took a good look at the photo. Take a toothpick and run in it in the bottom of the knurling. Looks like aluminum particulates stuck there and not missing ano. Can try an old toothbrush as well. The reason is, all of them are at the bottom of the knurling.

Thank you. The cap I have is removable but I’m not sure how the boot would be replaced.

    Adding some photos.

Also this light has one of the whitest tints I’ve had. It’s very nice.

Get some pointy nose pliers or circlip pliers. There are notches in the retaining ring that holds the switch board down.
Just fix the pliers into two opposite notches and unscrew the ring. Don't squeeze the pliers too much as you will distort the ring and make it harder to turn.
The switch disc should then fall out exposing the button. I can't remember if there's a similar ring that holds the button in, I don't think so. i think it just pops out.

What would be the current delay for a SST-40 18650 light? Site says 3 weeks...3 actual weeks?

    Hello darkness my old friend,
I've come to talk with you again...
I liked neutral tints before they were cool.

Didn’t even need epoxy, the wire fit in the channel nice and securely. All back together and working perfectly.
