The titanium Rotaries are cool. My Ti Clicky can't wait to get finally a Ti friend after that long wait.

A minimum of $1200 for one of the remaining titanium rotaries (when choosing no special emitter or sapphire lens).

The event is already configured on the HDS website, so you can configure the light to your liking to see what it will cost (before shipping):

During the pre order phase the base price was $1000. If you were selecting i.e. NB45 than there were the price for the limited emitter on top.

The only change from pre order to the order on April 29 is that the base price is now $1200, not $1000.

Ok just to get this straight, situations in my life have prevented me from getting on this special run of lights so Iíll just have to wait till they start to show up on b/s/t. Now at that point Iím stuck with whatever emitter is in the light correct? HDS will not work with you to swap it out even on these special runs correct?

No. HDS will not do emitter swaps however Henry offered the service of upgrading the titanium Clicky electronics with upgraded emitter here. $393. Not inexpensive. If someone fried their titanium electronics swapping out the emitter in one of these special runs, I would expect the cost to be about the same for HDS to bring it back to life.

HDS is currently upgrading my Titanium Clicky (Executive). I imagine there is quite a bit of labor involved in pulling out potted electronics and cleaning the host plus, as I understand the process, the LED has to be sent to a third party vendor (for a small quantity run - 1 unit) to be mounted in the new electronics. Then, there is the assembly of the light as if it were new. If labor costs $125/hour....

We're not privy to all of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into these. I imagine the churn after the pre-sale period (that lasted a few days) has caused more than enough additional headache. (Sorry Hogo!)

I don't see anything wrong with making a little more after all the hard work. The increased price also increases the resale value for those who were paying close attention and able to get in early.

Edit: Additionally, the $1200 after-pre-sale base price has been known since August 2018: https://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb...=1#post5233888 and appeared on the hdssystems.com home page from then until yesterday.

Without getting into a debate about the time value of money, prices, costs, worth, etc, etc, etc ... I'd rather this thread be more about a celebration of these fine torches, instead.

My long winded way of saying more photos, please

Imagine you're a professional who charges $85-$150 an hour for labor.

I'm going to take a wild guess here and assume that it takes a good amount of labor to do an electronics swap on a fully potted light. With the possibility of something going catastrophically wrong.

This isn't a part replacement, this is customization / repair. People's time costs money.

I'd love to see a picture of a titanium Executive next to a titanium Rotary. I had little interest in a TiEx until now, and the desire is slowly eating at me.

    No worries, we'll move on

The work-in-progress photos do look amazing, by the way.

Photos of the vintage Ti Ra Clickies, from those that have 'em, are encouraged too.

Hope at least one CPF'r may have both, for a comparison picture ....

Iím looking forward to some comparisons as well. From what Iíve seen in photos, the Ti clicky knurling is deeper (?) Never saw one live...The Ti Rotary looks to have the same knurling as current aluminums. Were aluminum clickis of the same era similar?

Edit: To clarify...were HDS clickies knurling different in the past than they are now?

I revised the chart to show my order change from 45 to 35; apparently the only one. Not a popular choice, but one I'm already happy with it in the bronze run.

I would like to address one thing. The MSRP on the Titanium Rotary HDS IS $1,200 and has always been $1,200. Those who opted for the pre-sale and let us use their money for over 6 months, not knowing for sure if this was going to happen, were given a $200 discount at the time they ordered. There were a couple times we almost refunded everyones money and dropped the project. This is why those who took the initial risk were given the discount.

Sorry Archimedes, but I did want this clarified.

As for the difference in the knurling, you can find that on the HDS Systems, Inc FAQ page. The specs for the knurling have not changed over the years, however how each machinist does their art... well, that accounts for the variations. It's why we are trying very hard to keep the machinist we have... even if he doesn't own a watch or calendar.

Now, how about some more porn?

Now, I have to get back to boxing these suckers up.

P.S. Please don't "reply" to this post and fill the thread with the same photos! Thanks!
