Hey guys. I am wanting to do some modifications to my Streamlight Polytac at work. Essentially, I want to make it a magnetic mount light with much longer run time. My idea is to take a plastic/aluminum project box, house a couple of 26650 cells, mount the light to the box with the Streamlight hardhat mounting kit (should give me rotation capabilities), and run the wires from the battery tray to the driver. This torch normally runs off a pair of CR123 batteries. Their website lists the led as a C4. Would I need to do anything with the difference in voltage? Or should it be as easy as I am thinking?
If it is going to be this easy, what should I be looking for on minimum dimensions for the project box? Also suggestions on battery brand and where to find a battery tray would be great.
