Convoy S2+ 7135*8 - Will my battery be enough for it?

I have some Nitecore 3400mAh NL189. They don't say how many amps they run. Just that it is 3.7V and 12.6Wh

This light is designed for up to 8 amps

Is this a modified Convoy S2+? 8A draw for a single 18650 cell is a lot. Even for a modified light. I'm inclined to say that the Nitecore cells will not be able to provide that sort of amperage. Not for a sustained period of time, at least.

[h=2]7135*8 means it will draw about 3-3.5A at full speed. Are you sure about the 8A claim?[/h]

I misunderstood what the 8 meant. I thought those were the amount of amps it took. My batteries don't say how many amps they are. Does the Nitecore N189 go up to at least 3.5 amps?

Nitecores website doesn't specify.

Yes. Almost any modern 18650 cell should be able to handle 3.5A with no problems.

lately amc chips are 380ma. any good quality 18650 can handle up to 2c continuously. your 3400mah cells should be able to pull over 6A

Base cell for that battery would be the Panasonic NCR18650B, which, while capable of the required current, will sag in voltage quite a bit compared to an IMR or newer hybrid INR.
If you are after the absolute best output under extended use, cells based on the 3500 mAh 18650GA cell will do better. Not that the difference is really that noticeable to the naked eye under real world use, however.

That's great news. I'm excited to try out one of these convoy lights to see how I like it for work. We use the lights during the day to light up inside the machines and tunnels.
