The site owner and the admins are aware that the certificate is expired.

If only there were some sort of analogy involving deceased equine mammals and their repeated corporal punishment.

Sounds like someone needs to stop flogging the deceased walrus.

For some reason, this apparently-common, known issue didn't show up when I searched "FAQ" for "security," "security certificate," or "certificate." The threads linked above are nice, but it might help slow folks like me if such a common issue was in the FAQ. Maybe just me that looks there first...

    Default Security certificate expired

It’s the very first thread in the Admin Announcement and the Questions and Problems subforums, so the discussion isn’t too hard to find. Given that the issue is only one day old, I wouldn’t consider it a “frequently” asked question. Greta said it will be fixed soon so all is well.

And it's resolved. The new certificate expires in 2021.

Don't feel bad, most of our days, if we're lucky, are dealing with "first world problems," like duplicate threads, web administration, and other administrivia and minutiae associated with our hobbies. Even when we have "real" problems, having an entertainment forum like this one as a hobby is a nice diversion. One of the reasons I like cpf is that people generally seem to "get it," and understand that the whole purpose of these forums is to talk about first world distractions, toys, and toys disguised as tools. Of course, there are those who express their fears and unfounded self-importance through snark and sarcasm, but they are easy to laugh at and ignore.

Keep up the good work, Greta and company! I'm off to click a link and buy something in support of our shared first world distraction!
