Do you guys still want individual thread for lights? If not I will just post it all in the lounge.

WOW! You stuffed quad in it...and W1....just WOW!
For me it's easier to scroll the threads by the name (each torch individually)

Wow. Is that a Manker quad?

In the throwiest spec, does this out-throw the Emisar D4 Or other 18650 quads using the same LED?

I am in the market for the throwiest 18650 triple or quad using w1/w2/Olson black under 200$.

Goal is 60kCD and 2k+ lumens. I am upgrading from the Emisar D4 XPG2 and Goliath V2 W1. Is this light the answer or is there a better option? That w1 pic looks impressive in the beamshot!

    Thanks

Triples throw a bit more than quads but still 60kcd is tough. I think we got 45kcd here. 2000L and 60Kcd sounds like a job for SST40 in a bigger host. May be the GTvn Mico..

What is (estmate) runtime (mins or secs?) on turbo before Kick down running Osram?
Clear carclo optics with W1 or W2 set-up?
    Thx..

I meant Manker TIR/MCPCB in FW3A host. Because it doesn't look like a mule and a Carclo quad surely wouldn't fit.

Only looking for those specs in a triple or quad setup, not a single LED/reflector. I love the flat even tight hotspot these triples and quads give! Will take it to another thread though, just checking if this FW3Avn is capable of such specs. Thanks!

    Awesome job Vinh!

I like the look of that quad. Also the beam pattern with Oslon white flat.

For now I have to remove the R from the tittle as one of my FW3A is acting up. The switch is not working right. If I swap bodies the head is OK. But all the bad one does is flickers and low power strobed. Will update.

I think that's a sign of the tailcap not being on tight enough. Gotta screw it on REAL tight for proper operation.

The FW3A uses an e-switch. Main current doesn't even pass through the switch. The e-switch just tells the driver what to do via the inner tube contact. If the switch were defective, the light simply wouldn't respond when you press the button. It wouldn't flicker or be dim... the driver simply wouldn't know that you had pressed the button.

But that's not what you're experiencing. Instead what you're getting is signs of a bad main-current connection. This is a sign the tailcap isn't screwed on tight enough. Just screw it on real tight and the light should work fine again.

There's a thread on BLF on FW3A issues. Covers pretty much everything.

Yup sounds like a teardown is necessary.

Maybe some debris between the contact ring on the switch or driver and the body tube?

    I think I prefer the D4, when comparing W1 quad D4 VS. W1 triple FW3A.

    D4 W1 Quad = 2500 Lumen 54k Lux 28mm head
    FW3A W1 Triple = 2000 Lumen 45k Lux 25mm head

For the minimal size difference, that seems like a very notable difference in beam intensity and hotspot size. D4 w1 quad bigger hotspot aND more intense?

Although the FW3A looks cooler IMO, I’ll be using it in the dark haha. I prefer side switch and D4 solid fit in the hand, the FW3A looks less comfortable to grip, and unless holding tactically (few EDC reasons to for me), the tail switch seems awkward to me.

D4 gets my vote if comparing W1s. Possible to get a D4 triple W1 for a more direct comparison?

EDIT: Dont forget the glorious 18350 body tube for the D4! Even more impressive in that tiny size. Does the TI/Copper body have the 18350 option?

Neither will last at max to be really usable statistics TBH. Both will step down immediately and continue dropping until they both are in the few-hundred lumen area.

The FW3A is the triple D4. That's really the largest difference between them regarding the business end.... You'd just end up with the same stats, minus maybe heat-syncing. At least assuming use of the same optics.

TK advised in her post that first thing everybody should do is to run thermal regulation setup because FW3 comes from factory set to 40deg only...

Wouldn’t a triple D4 mean larger optics and more throw? i.e. 60k lux and 2k lumens? That was the point of the comparison, assuming different optics in the larger body, and potentially being driven harder. (Comparing each LED quad specs of FW3A vs D4, there is a serious difference in output.)

I don’t need more than 10 seconds at max lol, basic office job with no actual use requirements other than sheer “oo’s and awe’s” when night time falls. Just a toy to out-spec my old toys.

+1 I think that the D4 probably has a better build quality more heft and will outperform the lumintop. I agree with the desire for a side switch instead of a rear. The only thing that the lumintop has on the D4 is its handsome looks. Just another opinion....
