Hi, I'm looking for advice on modding a Coast Polysteel 1000 (9aaa) flashlight with a remote switch. I assume all I need to do is unscrew the end cap and either tie in some wires to the current switch and run the to a remote switch and seal up the endcap with some silicon and I should be good to go. The end product will be mounted on the bow of a kayak with the switch located in the cockpit for paddling a river at night. pics of light innards attatched

you can get tapeswitch or mechanical switches easily enough. I'd put a McClicky in a small project box that you can velcro close to you. Functional would be to just run the 2-conductor wire and silicone the holes you will make in the box and tailcap.

For the flashlight body, use the board/ spring from the existing torch, just run wires to the contact points there and silicone it all up.
I'd consider looking at those bicycle handlebar mounts to hold the torch onto the kayak
